Asymptotically consistent size-dependent plate models based on the couple-stress theory with micro-inertia

چکیده
Several beam and plate models have been recently developed in the literature to accommodate for size-dependence. These are usually obtained starting from a generalized continuum theory (such as couple-stress, strain-gradient or non-local their modifications) then deducing governing equations through Hamilton’s principle ingenuous kinematical assumptions. This approach, originated by Kirchhoff, fails reproduce dispersion features of equivalent 3D theory. Besides, it produces variety models, dependence different assumptions, such Kirchhoff’s Mindlin’s. In contrast, this paper we adopt asymptotic reduction: moving couple-stress linear elasticity with micro-inertia, deduce new elongation flexural deformation microstructured plates. The resulting consistent, sense that they corresponding body. Also, unique, may only differ order approximation. We find microstructure especially affects inertia terms, which can be hardly captured a-priori For static deformations, our results match those already assuming plane cross-sections within modified fact, show reduced strain gradient theories all lead results. Higher also given, describe near first-cut-off behaviour account thickness deformations spirit Timoshenko.

In this study, the effect of finite strain on bending of the geometrically nonlinear of micro laminated composite Euler-Bernoulli beam based on Modified Couple Stress Theory (MCST) is studied in thermal environment. The Green-Lagrange strain tensor according to finite strain assumption and the principle of minimum potential energy is applied to obtain governing equation of motion and boundary c...

The present study investigates the buckling of a thick sandwich plate under the biaxial non-uniform compression using the modified couple stress theory with various boundary conditions. For this purpose, the top and bottom faces are orthotropic graphene sheets and for the central core the isotropic soft materials are investigated. The simplified first order shear deformation theory (S-FSDT) is ...
متن کاملA Size-dependent Bernoulli-Euler Beam Formulation based on a New Model of Couple Stress Theory
In this paper, a size-dependent formulation for the Bernoulli-Euler beam is developed based on a new model of couple stress theory presented by Hadjesfandiari and Dargush. The constitutive equation obtained in this new model, consists of only one length scale parameter that is capable of capturing the micro-structural size effect in predicting the mechanical behavior of the structure. Having on...

In the present study, a vibration analysis of functionally graded rectangular nano-/microplates was considered based on modified nonlinear coupled stress exponential and trigonometric shear deformation plate theories. Modified coupled stress theory is a non-classical continuum mechanics theory. In this theory, a material-length scale parameter is applied to account for the effect of nanostructu...
متن کاملFree vibration analysis of multi-cracked micro beams based on Modified Couple Stress Theory
In this article, the size effect on the dynamic behavior of a simply supported multi-cracked microbeam is studied based on the Modified Couple Stress Theory (MCST). At first, based on MCST, the equivalent torsional stiffness spring for every open edge crack at its location is calculated; in this regard, the Stress Intensity Factor (SIF) is al...
